The Mildred & Sidney Goschalk Student Aid Fund

Financial assistance primarily for undergraduate Jewish students studying in the UK

The Mildred & Sidney Goschalk Student Aid Fund provides financial assistance to Jewish students undertaking undergraduate study who have spent at least one year studying at a Yeshiva or Seminary after leaving secondary (high) school.

Awards are made according to individual circumstances, financial need and the funds available.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

✓ are Jewish
✓ are studying, or planning to study, an undergraduate course in the UK
✓ have spent at least one year studying at a Yeshiva or Seminary after leaving secondary (high) school
✓ can demonstrate a need for financial assistance

Applications to the Goschalk Fund are considered separately from applications to the JSAT Main Grant.

What do we consider?

We look at your circumstances as a whole. When considering an application, the Trustees may take into account:

• the cost of your course and living expenses;

• your savings, income and other funds available to you;

• student finance, scholarships, grants and other funding you have received or applied for;

• financial support available from your family;

• any particular circumstances affecting your financial position;

• your educational and biographical background, including your studies, experience and involvement in the Jewish community;

• why you have chosen your particular course and university, and how these choices relate to your future plans;

• your reasons for applying to JSAT and how our support would help you; and

• information provided by your referees.

We recognise that everyone's circumstances are different. The application gives you an opportunity to tell us about yourself and your circumstances, as well as providing the financial information we need to consider your application.

What will I need?

Before starting your application, it will help to have details of your academic history and proposed course, your Yeshiva or Seminary study, income and savings, expected expenditure, student finance and other funding, and any family contribution towards your studies.

You will also need the references and supporting documents requested on the application form.

What happens after I apply?

Applications are considered after the application deadline. We may contact you if we need further information or clarification and will let you know the outcome once the assessment process has been completed.

All applications are treated confidentially.
